Giant Ice Cream Taco Cake

I saw this recipe in my most recent copy of Food Network Magazine. I can't believe how convincing it looks!

It's all made of sweet/sugary stuff but looks so convincingly savory!

Have you ever seen any cakes/sweets designed to look like savory foods but are nothing but sweet?

I did that back in the 90's when I was still working in bakeries.

I liked to make cakes look like watermelon, hamburgers, hotdogs, spaghetti and meatballs, etc...

Maybe one day I will break out my pics and scan them and post them on here.

That taco cake does look very convincing. I have seen hamburger cakes in person a few times and a hot dog one once, but other than that, I haven't seen many cakes like this. I have a friend that almost exclusively makes cakes shaped like liquor or beer bottles though. A lot of people order them for their loved ones on their birthdays. They look like very realistic bottles. She is quite talented when it comes to cake decorating.

@Trellum, where do you find them? I have probably seen a few when I am on Pinterest but in my mind I am thinking it calls for so much skill and frankly some of them I would never probably be inclined to touch. Look at that chicken for example. The whole chicken.......Wow....
