So this is one of my favourite pastries, we make it at home all the time. It's very easy to make, no mixer needed, our hands will do.
Sambusak is an arabic recipe but variants exist all over the eastern Mediterranean sea.
The filling varies and is usually heavily seasoned.

The simplest cheese filling my mom uses is feta cheese & egg (mixed as if intended for an omelet)
seasoned with black pepper.
Alternatively one can use minced meat & diced pepper, but if you do that make sure you've fried/shizzled the meat, because it won't cook by the time the dough is done.
As long as it's not too runny, any filling can do the trick.

Make sure you've closed the edges of each pastry pouch firmly and put a baking sheet over the baking tray because there's a real chance that the filling might drip anyway.

Those look a lot like "fried pies" we have here down in the Southern USA.

They also remind me of Empanadas also, which are awesome!

It reminds me a bit of Turkish Pide - one of my favorite things to order at my local Turkish restaurant! So yummy!

Sounds like they're pretty similar, so I'm sure I would enjoy this too!

Tis kinda reminded me of empanadas :p I think you could do something similar, but preparing it with puff pastry and baking it like an empanadas :) Just kidding, this recipe looks great! I love Arabic food!

This looks delicious. I enjoy making savory baked goods, as well as sweet ones. The majority of my baking recipes are for desserts, so I might have to try this. If so, I'd probably use feta with spinach and chopped or sliced tomatoes, mixed into the eggs.
