I have an essay assignment on discourse communities, and I need to interview someone who would consider themselves an experienced and knowledgeable member of the Baking Discourse Community. My questions are:
1. What are the primary, broadly agreed-upon goals of the baking discourse community?
2. What are the main mechanisms of communication among members?
3. What are the main genres (as in blueprints, recipes, videos) used by the baking discourse community?
4. How do these genres intersect and meet the goals of the community?
5. What are examples of the lexis (language only bakers would likely understand) used by the discourse community?
6. How long does it generally take to get familiar with the baking discourse community and the lexicon used?
Thank you, I would greatly appreciate a response!
