I looked at all of those, too. I was going to go with the Breville because it was highly rated by places like Wirecutter and Serious Eats, but too many reviewers said they had trouble with the rubber or plastic coating on the scraping beater flaking off. I finally took a chance on the Hamilton Beach Professional Cordless hand mixer, and I just love it. It's very powerful, has infinite speed control so when you turn it on, it is always a "soft" start. Best of all, there is almost no splattering; (I always used to use my Kitchen Aid hand mixer in the sink, because it splattered so badly). The cordless feature is so handy because you never have to wrestle with an awkwardly placed cord getting in the way, and you can easily use the mixer anywhere such as at the stove. The charge lasts much longer than the other cordless I looked at (a Cuisinart). I did quite a few batches of cookies leading up to the holidays without having to recharge. I think it's supposed to last an hour on a full charge. I don't really mean to sound like a commercial for Hamilton Beach here, but I have been so happy with this mixer. My big Kitchen Aid stand mixer is great, but really too big to efficiently mix smaller quantities such as small-batch cookies. This cordless mixer is practically perfect for everything except kneading bread dough.
