I’ve recently started selling baked treats at a local weekend market and I’m trying to figure out the best way to keep everything fresh and visually appealing, especially items like cookies, brownies, and granola bars.

I've been experimenting with different types of food-safe packaging that maintain freshness and prevent moisture exposure. One type that’s been working surprisingly well for me is resealable mylar bags they seem to lock in the freshness better than simple plastic wrap or paper bags.

I found a helpful collection *PHISHING AGAIN*

Curious to hear what others are using! Do you stick with traditional bakery boxes, or have you found any other packaging hacks that really work?

Keep in mind that no two baked goods have the same characteristics. A shortbread cookie is crisp by nature, while chocolate chip cookies can be formulated to be crisp, soft, or chewy. Brownies can be made cakey or fudgy, depending on the recipe. Packaging, therefore, can’t follow a one-size-fits-all approach.

You need to research types of High Barrier Material food packaging and select packaging that is most suitable to the products you bake and sell.

Aside from matching the packaging to the product, it’s important to completely cool baked goods to ensure no residual moisture gets trapped in the packaging.

Homemade bake goods have a very short shelf life given they are made without preservatives and dough conditioners used in commercial baking. So consider offering products with a low moisture content like biscotti and shortbread type cookies.
