Cake with fondant icing.

Which cake is best to use with fondant icing please?
We almost always used it over genoise which was covered with 1/8th " thin sheet of marzipan, then fondant poured over on a screen.
This assumes the cake is doused with rum and layered with buttercream to start with.

if you're talking about rolled fondant, its not used in France, its not real fondant.
For the rolled stuff its better to use regular cake as its dense enough to hold up.
