Do you own a Betty Crocker cookbook?

Back in the day, Betty Crocker was the go-to brand for foodies. One of the first cakes I made as a young girl was from a recipe out of a Betty Crocker cookbook. These days, I no longer go this routes. The Food Network and other sites offer a variety of recipes (free) online. Yet, I do wonder if there any die-hard Betty Crocker fans still left.

Well, Betty Crocker was the staple but now with the boom of the internet and free information. There really isn't a need to buy a recipe book or pay for a service. Why spend money when you can learn the same thing for free?

Look what I stumbled on? I was a Betty Crocker mix cake specialist and did not know that she had a book. That was probably ages ago. I should probably have one for library although I am not into books these days. Everything is right there at your finger tips on the internet. I am going to go check this book out online.

I got a Betty Crocker cookbook from a family friend when I left for college. At the time, I didn't cook much and was going to live in a dorm, but once I moved out-I discovered how much I liked to cook with that cookbook (it's the red one in a 3-ring binder). To this day, I still reference it (in fact, I made an orange glaze for my orange cake yesterday from that cookbook). Despite the online tools and recipes I use more frequently, I'll always have a soft spot for Betty Crocker!

Same here. Betty Crocker was "it" back then but there are so many awesome cooks and chefs (especially easily available and fun to watch on Food Network) that it's the route most people go through. I love books, the actual feel of holding on in my hands and turning pages, so I still buy some once in a while. But, there are also a lot of cookbooks out there and not just Betty Crocker. It would be nice to own at least one of those anyways, for "old times' sake." LOL

I never did, and doubt I ever will, not with all those free amazing recipes out there! This internet thing is such a wonderful thing! I'm now getting most of my recipes from pinterest, love the fact the first thing I see are the pictures!

That's so sweet, I still actually have a couple recipe magazines, and I plan to keep them, because I consider some of those recipes unique and cannot be easily found online, at least not the very same recipe. I still like recipe magazines, they sometimes offer really good and original ideas.

My mom has the Betty Crocker cookbook pictured above and I hope she gives it to me someday. I don't think I would ever even use it, just keep it around for the nostalgia of it. I rely on cookbooks that I find at thrift stores and Food Network for most of my recipes these days.

We have a little (aged and yellowing) paperback boxed set of 5-6 different books covering all phases of the meal. Some of the recipes are quite good, others are seriously questionable. Ask me about my Betty Crocker apple pie one day...

I got a three-ring binder-style Betty Crocker cookbook from my mother-in-law many years ago. I only cook three recipes from the book - meatballs, meatloaf and beef stroganoff. By now, I can cook all three without using the book, but I always find myself opening the book and laying it out before I start. I never actually look at the recipe! Even though I use Pinterest a lot, I still prefer having a cookbook.

I have one. It's a hand me down from my grandma. I have used it a little bit, but not very much. I think it's a good basic cookbook, but I haven't been into cookbooks in a long time, mostly becaus of the Internet.
