First time making pastry!

Do I go for ready made or should l try making it myself for the first time? I'm thinking of using ready made as its my first time and l dont want to make a mess but l really would like to make it myself.

I am with you. I did ready made my first time. Then I branched out and did the cream puffs, and said to myself, Self? That was not too bad! Now I make them often. Pie crust? oh boy, I stick with ready made myself.
