Hey friends! I live a bit outside of Asheville NC, in the Western NC Mountains, and yes, we are recovering from Helene but it is a process, we got hit rather bad.

It did remind me of some of my roots in cooking and baking, as I was cooking over a fire in my backyard for a couple of weeks without electricity, luckily there was plenty of down wood!

I teach English at a small private school, and often also teach an elective in Folklore. As such I really love recreating historical recipes and looking at folk traditions of baking in our Mountains here. Let's just say, I kind of feel my sourdough game, is fairly on point.... at least I hope.

Looking forward to meeting you and sharing recipes.

That is so cool, RB! you are fancy, I am more like, well, hope this turns out edible, and don't have a ton of aesthetics, though it is the next frontier to explore... I am good on bread and pie, cake and associated stuff is scary but awesome.

Maine is one of my favorite states, I live in WNC but my family is from Vermont, and I thru hiked the AT, where are you in Maine? I also did a awesome road trip with my ex wife (bittersweet memories) up highway one to Acadia.
