Choosing a Decorating Tip Set for Beginner Bakers

I've been baking for about a year now and feel the need to challenge myself with decorating. I wanted to get started with a tip set. What brands do you recommend? I would rather pay a little extra up front and get a good product than regret it and have to repurchase again. What size bags should I use. This is strictly for fun, one cake a week that I give away. I love my KitchenAid mixer and have Nordic Ware & Wilton products, they've all treated me well.
