How do you prep a cookie press?

When it comes to baking cookies, I am old-school. Mainly, I drop my cookie dough into a pan as a 'ball'. Every blue moon, I use a cookie press, but notice that this tool gets gunky (easily).

Are there any tricks to avoid a gunky cookie press? How do you prep your cookie press before use?

Well, you could solve the problem by greasing the holy heck out of it. I would say ditch the press and go with the old fashion way. You really aren't saving time with the press anyway.
