Hello!

I am going to be offering diy sugar cookie decorating kits. I am torn between offering buttercream or royal icing. I wasn't sure if royal icing would hold up? I've only used it fresh. The eggs make me nervous if people don't follow directions I guess.

Has anyone used buttercream instead? I assume it wouldn't harden like royal icing
Thank you in advance!

if you’re producing it from a home kitchen in the US it is illegal to use butter. Nearly every state has laws the regulating cottage food industry. Butter, cream, and cheese icings and fillings cannot be produced and sold from a Home Kitchen due to the potential for food poisoning.
