Hi everyone!

I’ve been exploring the impact of food packaging on our health and came across some intriguing information about PFAS (often called “forever chemicals”) used in certain food packaging materials. These chemicals are often added to make packaging greaseproof or water-resistant but they’ve also raised concerns about potential health risks and environmental impact.

For instance, I recently learned about how PFAS can transfer into the foods we eat, especially hot or greasy foods. It made me rethink how I store leftovers or choose takeout containers. Do any of you consciously avoid specific types of packaging? Or have you found any sustainable alternatives?

I came across an article that breaks down the issue really well and offers insights into safer practices. If you’re interested, here’s the link: PFAS in Food Packaging.

Would love to hear your thoughts or tips for avoiding harmful packaging! Let’s share and learn together. 😊

It's great you're raising awareness about PFAS in food packaging! I’ve been avoiding products with non-stick coatings, and I’ve switched to using glass containers for leftovers. As a side note, I’ve also read that some health-conscious folks are turning to Canadian pharmacy options for safer products. Let’s keep sharing tips for healthier habits!

Thank you for sharing your approach! Switching to glass containers is such a great move it's not only safer but also helps reduce waste. I've been trying to do the same and have found it super convenient for reheating food too.

This is such an important topic thank you for bringing it up! I’ve also read about PFAS in food packaging and it really makes you think twice about how much these chemicals can affect us. I’ve started being more mindful of the types of packaging I use or accept, especially when it comes to takeout or pre packaged food. I try to avoid anything with non stick coatings or that looks shiny or waterproof, as these are often the types that contain PFAS.

I’ve found that using glass containers for leftovers and storing food in paper bags (when I can) is a much safer alternative. Also, I’ve been looking into companies that use more sustainable packaging materials like compostable or recyclable options, which seem to be growing in popularity.

It’s definitely a learning curve but I think it’s worth the effort to reduce exposure to these harmful chemicals. Would love to hear if anyone else has found sustainable alternatives that work well for them! Thanks again for sharing the article, I’ll check it out!

That's a really important topic! I've been trying to be more mindful about food packaging lately, especially with the rise of single use plastics. I hadn't heard about PFAS specifically but it's definitely concerning.

I try to avoid using plastic wrap as much as possible, especially when heating food. I use reusable silicone covers or glass containers instead. For takeout, I always opt for paper or cardboard containers over plastic.
