Putting soda in cakes...

sooo i`m experimenting with some flavors of soda. WHY? BECAUSE I`M MAD!!!(evil laugh) ahem no but reallyi thought well since the 7-up cake does well, other flavors should do ok too.... well we will see soon. (one is already in the oven) my question is what does it take for soda to be potent in a cke thx

7-Up was not to flavor the cake. The carbon dioxide (carbonation) in the soda pop acts as leavening in place of baking powder/baking sodain the cake. it was just a gimmick by the soda pop companies to sell more soda.

Long before 7-Up, lemon lime soda was used.

The thing though with using soda pop is there’s a bunch of other crap in the soda: high fructose corn syrup, preservatives, artificial color….

Why do you want to put low quality crap in your cake?
