Hey, I'm struggling with fritters other than apple which seems to hold good together no matter what type of "jam" I use, but I have some fritters ideas that are not that simple. Looks great before I put them into the oil but they slowly break apart. I chop up a special dry cake that I make and mix it with sugar, water and cornstarch which I have boiled up earlier and cooled. I figured flour and cornstarch would hold it together but not. Any ideas how to glue this together? Maybe add egg into the mixture?

Cake is already baked.
Fritters are made from raw dough.
Its a bad idea, I wouldn't go there.
