Pavlova?

A very long time ago I made a strawberry Pablova. Has anyone else made one of these? Mine was Ok, but when I put the strawberries on top it crushed it more than I expected. is that the way it's supposed to be?

No, isn't supposed to crush the crust even more, but it happens very often, I'd honestly don't worry so much about it. My grandma used to make it as well, I haven't tried it yet because am not a big fan or meringue and it looks kinda tricky to pull off (the crust).

Maybe I just wasn't careful enough when I put the strawberries on. The biggest thing keeping me from trying again is the amount of time it takes, it's like, most of the day. Rarely am I going to have the time to do it early enough in the day for it to be ready for dessert at the end of the day on a day when I think it would be good to do it.
