There are wildfires in California (this is fire season in CA, and it's always bad. Fires are sprouting up all over), and in Northern CA some of the worst fires are in wine country, the vineyards. And most of us know, Norcalbaker lives close to a vineyard.

You and me both. Of course, this is all complicated by the fact that the local electric company has been shutting off power to a lot of places. They're doing this because all this dry heat is caused by big winds. Live wires can be torn down by the winds, and cause fires. So they cut the power to (theoretically) minimize the chance of fires. Which means there's a possibility Norcal is somewhere without power.

California has been trying to refigure all this, but didn't mange to do enough in time. I think in the coming year there will be pressure to do a lot more ASAP to avoid this next year. It's all been a real mess. Scary, too.
