Hey guys, I’m looking for advice on the best way to defrost bread and bagels for ultimate freshness. I’ve heard of tips like brushing the bread or bagels with water and placing in an oven to defrost but want to debug any myths.

thanks!! :)

I freeze fresh bagels so they last longer. When ready to use, I don't do anything special with them, just place in the microwave at a low setting for a few seconds to soften and then put them in the toaster. Seems like brushing with water would make them soggy. For any type of dinner roll, I also keep them in the freezer. Take out the number you need for a meal and then defrost in the microwave before serving. I don't find you need to do anything special to them and that is what works for me. Bread tends to get moldy in the summer if you leave it as room temperature or put in the refrigerator. Freezing seems to work best for either bread products you make from scratch or those you buy at the store.
