Has anyone managed tp make the cupcakes inside sugar cones and have them turn out well? I made some for our Christmas Party. They were decorated like little trees. They were totally cute, but once you went to eat one it was sort of chewy and disgusting. I was so bummed because the idea was so cute. Does anyone have a trick that makes that sort of cupcake work? I'd love to try again.

I wish I had some input, but I would love to try this out! I love sugar cones so much, but never heard of them combined with cupcakes. Sounds amazing, but looks like it could be hard to make. :/

Bad news! That's the one I tried. They were actually super cute. I decorated the cones to look like trees. I couldn't find dyed cones so I just used some green frosting to make it look tree-like. They were adorable, but chewy and sort of creepy tasting.

I have never done the sugar cones. But I have made them in cake cones a few times. I find these ones easier since they can stand up in the cupcake pans that I use to bake them in. The main thing I learned with them is watch how much mix you place in. Always use a toothpick as well to see if they are done. Maybe your just cooking them a little too short. Maybe find those thin coffee stirs and can use them to stick the whole way down to check and see if they are completely done or not.

In both of the pictures on the tutorial I posted, the blogger did not frost the cones. Because if you put frosting on the cones, the moisture soaks into the cones and makes them like damp cookies. Did you slather green frosting all over the actual cones?

I piped a spiral of frosting around the cone. Not a whole bunch, just bascially a few stripes. I may not have cooked it long enough. They turned out so cute that I might just try it again and cook it for a bit longer. The cupcake inside the cone taste pretty good. Baking them in cake cones sounds like it could work too! I could make little clown cupcakes and use those for the hats.

I have never used the sugar cone , they are a little thick ,and I think the heat could have trouble evenly baking. I did however do this with the cake cones and the mini cake cones. I bake them in muffin tins to help them stay upright. I check for doneness before I remove them from the oven, so I would not get any half baked surprises. They turned out wonderfully and were big hit a children's event I attended.
