Best bread for sub sandwhiches?

Since it has been so hot outside, we refuse to turn the stove on. We decided on loaded sub sandwhiches for dinner. We don't want normal sliced bread but they have tons of different kinds of bread. Which ones best for sub sandwhiches?

For a home made subway sandwich, we always prefer the soft french bread. I said soft because there is that variety of french bread that is so tough to bite. We always buy the smaller size and plain with no toppings of grains unlike the bread in the Subway deli store. And in making a subway sandwich, we toast it for a minute just to heat the bread after slicing in the middle. The toasting gives the bread a semblance of slight crunchy texture that is perfect for the bite.
