Is there bran in rye flour? If so what would be a good nonbran substitute?

I'm just getting into making bread and have someone who can't do bran. The recipe calls for rye flour and can't seem to get an answer on the bran in rye flour.

Yes, rye flour does contain bran, but you have options if you need a substitute. White rye flour is refined and has less bran, making it a possible alternative. If you're open to using different grains, light spelt flour or white wheat flour can also work, though they still contain gluten.
