Lost recipe

Years and years ago I had a recipe for a cookie...I THOUGHT the woman called it a Danish cookie. It was like a sugar cookie/shortbread type dough, you rolled it into a log, then you rolled the log in egg whites and crushed walnuts, sliced and baked them, then decorated the top with icing and colored sugar. They were delicious and I have lost the recipe. Can anyone help? Do they sound familiar? I would love to make them with other cookies for my Christmas cookie baskets. Thank you.

I'm not finding anything like that described as Danish, but as far as coating the logs in egg white, this recipe rolls them in decorating sugar instead of the crushed nuts, sound like you could trade that out. http://www.kerrygoldusa.com/recipes/slice-and-bake-butter-cookies/
