Hi all!
I’m new to baking and have decided to try to bake a 2 layer cake for my sons bday.

both layers domed and I trimmed them off. But I ended up with a lot of scraps. I think I cut the domes off too thick.
I’m sorry if this sounds silly but can you create another layer with these dome tops?

As I said before they are quite thick!
Thank you!

Don’t worry, it’s not silly at all. You can definitely use your cake scraps to create another layer. If the scraps are too thick, try crumbling them and mixing with some frosting to make cake pops or a cake truffle mix. If you want to make a new layer, you can press the scraps into a pan and freeze them to firm up before using them as a layer. Happy baking and hope your son’s birthday cake turns out great!
