Vegan Cake Frosting

Hello!

I am looking for a recipe for a vegan frosting to coat a cake.

I live in the UK and used vegan shortening (Trex) and vegan butter last week to test a recipe but absolutely hated the taste and smell. The ingredients were fresh, well within their best by dates.

I'm at a loss as Trex seems to be the leading brand in the UK and is used by Cutter and Squidge whose vegan cakes are delicious and definitely not smelly ...

Any tips?

This coconut cream frosting can be adjusted to your preferred taste by adding more or less powdered sugar. It should provide a delicious alternative to the vegan shortening or butter-based frosting you've tried previously.

If you didn’t like the taste of Trex and vegan butter, you might want to try coconut cream or cashew butter for your frosting. For a quick coconut cream frosting, just beat chilled coconut cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until fluffy. If you prefer cashew-based frosting, blend soaked cashews with coconut milk, then mix in powdered sugar and vanilla. Both options should give you a creamy, flavorful frosting without the unpleasant smell.
