Has anyone baked any of the milk bar cakes from Christina Tosi's Milk Bar cookbook? I am fascinated by these cakes and the complexity level of them. I am trying to decide whether to order the 2011 or 2012 republication of the book. They are the same book, but for some reason it was republished a year later. I am just wondering if some typos were fixed, and if so, I would rather get the latest version. Does anyone know? Also, if anyone has baked any of her recipes, could you give me your opinion? Thanks.

Try to get the latest version whenever possible, they will have fixed some of the previous errors! Not a bad idea before a high-stakes baking project to check the website for the book(author or publisher) for errata before starting, since the average cookbook is published with many mistakes.

Tosi’s baked goods were all the rage for a
moment in time because she based them on childhood nostalgia. But that nostalgia was based on poor quality ingredients like sprinkles and overprocessed sugary cereal. There is a reason they are no longer in demand.

I’ve baked several cakes from Christina Tosi’s Milk Bar cookbook, and they’ve been amazing. The unique flavors are definitely worth the effort. The 2012 edition has some minor corrections from the 2011 version, so I’d recommend using the latest one to get the most up-to-date recipes.

Thank you. I am about to bake my fifth Milk Bar Cake. I am making the Corn and Blueberry Cake from Tosi's All About Cakes cookbook.

I've baked a few Milk Bar cakes from Christina Tosi's cookbook, and they're definitely worth the effort! The recipes can be a bit complex, with multiple steps, but the results are unique and delicious. As for the 2011 vs. 2012 editions, the 2012 version mostly just fixed some typos and minor details, so I'd go with that one if you can. Happy baking!

Thanks. I just looked and my Momofuku Milk Bar Cookbook is 2011. I just bought it brand new 3 months ago, so I am wondering why it is not the 2012 version.

Make sure you get a good cake ring and I would buy the clear liners. Y paper will work but not as clean. Once you do one, you will likely do your own recipes.

Thank you. I have been using the acetate and ring and it works so well. It really makes it easier to get cakes to be level an not leaning.
