Hi all!
Does anyone have some good tips for how to successfully culture yeast from scratch? I love baking sourdough bread from scratch but have not done it in a while because it takes so long to get a good yeast going (and that isn't even guaranteed!). I feel like I remember reading somewhere that you can "cheat" with buttermilk, but I don't remember!

There are some places you can buy a sourdough starter. Try googling and I'm pretty sure try looking in the King Arthur websites. Hope this helps :) I've just started one and it takes about a week to get the starter really active, but I think the flavor is supposed to be richer when it's older. Can't wait to try baking with it :)
